History
Garry gained his diploma of music (with distinction) at D.D.I.A.E (now the University of Southern Queensland) in his mid 20's where his studies incorporated jazz, classical and ethnic music, including Balinese drumming. While a student, he travelled to New Guinea to assist in the documentation and recording of the South Pacific Festival of Arts.
In 1983 he moved into the Brisbane session scene, and became an accomplished session keyboard player and synthesizer programmer. It was during this time that he introduced the first Fairlight CMI to Queensland at the Brisbane recording studio Suite 16. Under Garry's creative guidance, Suite 16 became an icon in the advertising industry, both locally and nationally.
Today
Today Garry operates as Pinkhouse Productions, and in between composing and producing music for advertising campaigns, TV and documentary series, artists and bands, he also conducts lectures and master classes for advertising and music students.
In conjunction with two other performers, Garry has also developed a presentation on team-building called "Get Your Act Together". This presentation uses music as it's vehicle and has been delivered to high acclaim at several conferences.
In addition he is undertaking research into environment, culture and communication as resources for commercial music production, and is also interested in the use of low-verbal communication techniques, and their effect on musicians performance levels in the recording studio.
Garry's experience is wide-ranging, and his time in the industry has enabled him to not only develop his own skills, but to establish strong relationships with other composers, arrangers, artists, engineers and producers. This network of talent helps to add variety and value to the services that Pinkhouse Productions offers.
